Additional Fields Deep Dive
Customize contact data to match your workflow.
What additional fields are
By default, contacts have basic fields: name, email, phone, company.
Additional fields let you track more information. Deal value, project deadlines, client preferences — whatever you need.
Adding a field
Go to Settings → Data & Fields.
Click "Add Field."
Choose a field type:
- Text: For short answers (e.g., "Preferred Contact Method")
- Number: For values (e.g., "Deal Value" or "Project Budget")
- Date: For deadlines or milestones (e.g., "Contract End Date")
Name the field and save. It now appears on all contact detail pages.
Using fields
Open a contact. You'll see your custom fields in their detail page.
Fill them in as needed. Leave them blank if they don't apply to that person.
You can filter and search contacts based on field values.
Tips
- Don't add fields until you actually need them. Start simple.
- Use date fields for anything time-based. They integrate with the calendar.
- Number fields are great for tracking deal values or project budgets.
- If you import contacts via CSV, you can map columns to custom fields using the AF: prefix.
